I don't dream. What can I do to change that?
Dreams actually occur almost every night since they are a natural
procedure during REM sleep. Some people simply have the ability to
remember their dreams more often than others.
How can I learn to interpret my dreams?
The dream interpretation section on this site covers most of the
dreaming process and includes dream analysis, description of sleep
cycles, explanation of symbols often met in dreams and methods of
remembering your dreams. However be aware that dream symbols don't
mean the same for everyone as dreams are very personal.
What is the duration of a dream?
Dreams can vary in length depending on how long you sleep. We
usually have our first dream after about one hour of sleep and
it lasts about 15 minutes. REM sleep occurs every 90 - 100
minutes, 3 to 4 times a night, and lasts longer as the night
progresses. The final REM period may last as long as 45 minutes.
Less vivid dreams occur at other times during the night.
Can I choose what to dream of?
Some control is possible however it is quite difficult to
determine what you will be dreaming. A helpful method is to set your
mind on what you want to dream about right before you go to sleep,
by giving yourself per-sleep suggestions. If your dream isn't what
you wanted insist on it until your dream satisfies you!
Do people know when they are dreaming?
Sometimes yes. You can teach yourself to recognize whether
you're dreaming or not and grow your skill so you can choose whether
to interfere with the dreams’ natural flow. This is known as lucid
dreaming. Studies have shown that if you wake up an hour earlier
than usual, then go back to sleep, that you’re very likely to have a
lucid dream in that last hour of sleep. Some studies have shown that
lucid dreams are more likely to occur in the sixth hour of sleep.
Are the people we see in our dreams real?
Sometimes they are but other times they can represent an aspect
of us. See it as the universe mirroring back to you that which you
need to recognize, appreciate or resolve within yourself. |
